Duloxen 20

Presentation: Each enteric-coated capsule contains Duloxetine Hydrochloride equivalent to Duloxetine 20 mg.

Indications: Duloxen is indicated for the treatment of:

• Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults.
• Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) in adults.
• Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain (DPNP) in adults.
• Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain in adults, including chronic low back pain and chronic pain due to osteoarthritis.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage is individualized and determined by the physician.

• Major Depressive Disorder: The usual starting dose is 40 mg per day (given as 20 mg twice daily) to 60 mg per day (given as a single dose or as 30 mg twice daily). The maximum recommended dose is 60 mg per day.
• Generalized Anxiety Disorder: The usual starting dose is 60 mg once daily. Some patients may benefit from a starting dose of 30 mg once daily for one week before increasing to 60 mg once daily. The maximum recommended dose is 60 mg per day.
• Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: The recommended dose is 60 mg once daily.
• Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain: The recommended dose is 60 mg once daily.

Duloxen capsules are administered orally and should be swallowed whole; they should not be opened, crushed, or chewed. It can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with food may help to reduce nausea. Follow your physician's instructions carefully regarding the dose and timing of administration.

Side Effects: Very common side effects include nausea, headache, dry mouth, somnolence (drowsiness), and dizziness. Common side effects may include constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue, insomnia, agitation, decreased appetite, and increased sweating. Less common side effects can include blurred vision, tremor, palpitations, and orthostatic hypotension.

Precautions: Inform your physician if you have liver or kidney problems, heart problems, high blood pressure, glaucoma, or a history of seizures or bleeding disorders. Duloxetine may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior, especially in young adults. Use caution with alcohol and other central nervous system depressants. Avoid abrupt discontinuation of the medication due to the risk of withdrawal symptoms. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Duloxetine can interact with other medications, including monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) – it should not be used within 14 days of stopping an MAOI. Use caution with other serotonergic medications and drugs that affect liver enzymes.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
