Edvila-M 500

Presentation: Tablets containing 5 mg vildagliptin and 500 mg metformin hydrochloride.

Indications: As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both vildagliptin andmetformin is appropriate.

Dosage and Administration: Typically administered twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects of metformin. Dosage is individualized based on the patient's current regimen and tolerability, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg vildagliptin and 2000 mg metformin. Contraindicated in patients with eGFR below 45 mL/min/1.73 m². Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache associated with metformin. Vildagliptin is generally well-tolerated; however, potential side effects include nasopharyngitis and dizziness.Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions: Contraindicated in moderate to severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, dialysis, and hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or metformin. Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, heart failure, and risk factors for lactic acidosis (e.g., excessive alcohol use, hypoxic states). Monitor liver function tests prior to initiation and periodically thereafter. Assess renal function before starting and regularly during treatment.

Storage: Store below 30°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
