Edvila-M 850

Presentation:Each tablet contains 50 mg of vildagliptin and 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride.Tablets are film-coated and typically oblong. Available in blister packs.

Indications:Edvila-M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both vildagliptin and metformin is appropriate.This includes patients whose diabetes is not adequately controlled on metformin or vildagliptin alone, or those already treated with the combination as separate tablets.  

Dosage and Administration: The usual dose for adults is one tablet taken orally twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening, with or just after food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. Dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current metformin dose and glycemic control. The maximum daily dose of vildagliptin is 100 mg. Patients already taking vildagliptin and metformin as separate tablets can be switched to Edvila-M containing the same doses.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) when used with other antidiabetic agents.Less common side effects may occur. Metformin may be associated with lactic acidosis in rare cases.Vildagliptin has been associated with rare cases of hepatic dysfunction.  

Precautions:Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or metformin, severe renal impairment, or acute or chronic metabolic acidosis.Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, and liver disease. Alcohol consumption should be avoided. Temporary discontinuation may be necessary in situations of dehydration, severe infection, or before major surgery. Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly needed and under medical advice.

Storage: Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
