Presentation: Usually contains Calcium Orotate in strengths of 400 mg or 740 mg. Tablets are typically available in strips. Manufactured by Globe Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and other companies in Bangladesh.

Indications: Used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels due to inadequate dietary intake. May be used in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, latent tetany, postmenopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, juvenile osteoporosis,and drug-induced osteoporosis. Also indicated during pregnancy and lactation. Some sources suggest potential use in managing inflammatory diseases, weight control, mood swings, and cognitive enhancement.

Dosage and Administration:

• Calcium Orotate 400 mg: Usually 2-3 tablets daily with meals, or as directed by a physician.
• Calcium Orotate 740 mg: Usually 1-2 tablets daily with meals, or as directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Common: bloating and swelling in the abdomen. Infrequent: loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, nausea, vomiting, increased thirst/urination, weakness, and headache. Kidney stone formation may occur rarely.

Precautions: Contraindicated in conditions like kidney stones, kidney disease, increased parathyroid gland activity, high amounts of calcium in urine or blood, and severe dehydration. Caution should be taken in patients with allergies, heart disease, pancreatic disease, sarcoidosis, or malabsorption syndrome. May interact with bisphosphonates, quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, and phenytoin; separate administration times may be needed. Thiazide diuretics may increase the risk of hypercalcemia.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
