Electrodex-10 500ml IV 

Presentation: A sterile intravenous infusion solution in a 500ml PVC (medical grade) bag. Each 100 ml contains Dextrose Monohydrate equivalent to Dextrose Anhydrous BP 10 gm and Sodium Chloride BP 0.225 gm in sterile Water for Injection BP. Manufactured by Orion Infusion Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Electrodex-10 is indicated for:

• Short-term fluid replacement after trauma.
• Dehydration accompanied by minor sodium chloride deficiency.
• Maintenance and replacement of fluids, electrolytes, and carbohydrates in patients unable to absorb them orally, such as during pre- and postoperative fluid regimens, shock, or accidents.
• Providing dextrose as a nutrient in a suitable environment of sodium chloride.
• Use in infants, neonates, children, and adults who require low sodium content.
• Generally used in infants, neonates, and children.
• Adult patients who require maximum energy and low sodium content (e.g., hypertensive and kidney failure patients).

Dosage and Administration: The dose is variable and depends on the patient's clinical condition, age, body weight, and the judgment of the physician.

• Adults: Generally 40-80 drops per minute intravenously.
• Children: Generally 1-2 drops per minute per kg of body weight intravenously. The solution should be administered intravenously by a healthcare professional using sterile equipment. It should be visually inspected for particulate matter and discoloration prior to administration; do not use if cloudy or containing particles.

Side Effects: Reactions that may occur due to the solution or the technique of administration include:

• Febrile response (fever)
• Infection at the site of injection 
• Venous thrombosis or phlebitis extending from the site of injection 
• Extravasation (leakage of fluid intosurrounding tissues)
• Hypervolemia (fluid overload)
• Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), especially in diabetic patients
• Electrolyte imbalances
• Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with congestive heart failure, peripheral or pulmonary edema, renal failure, or pre-eclampsia due to the sodium chloride content.
• Monitor serum glucose levels carefully in diabetic patients; concurrent use of insulin may be necessary.
• Clinical evaluation and periodic laboratory determinations are necessary to monitor changes in fluid balance, electrolyte concentrations, and acid-base balance during prolonged parenteral therapy or wheneverthe patient's condition warrants suchevaluation. 
• Significant deviations from normal concentrations may require tailoring of the electrolyte pattern in these or alternative solutions. 
• The infusion should be stopped immediately if any adverse reaction occurs.
• Do not use if the solution is cloudy, contains particles, or has expired.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult a healthcare professional before use.

Storage: Store at room temperature (25°C); however, brief exposure up to 40°C does not adversely affect the product. Protect from lightand moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
