Elipta 5/10

Presentation: Tablets containing 5 mg linagliptin and 10 mg empagliflozin.

Indications: As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both linagliptin and empagliflozin is appropriate. Empagliflozinis also indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease.  

Dosage and Administration:The recommendeddose is one tablet once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food. Dosage adjustments may be needed based on renal function. Contraindicated in patients with eGFR below 45 mL/min/1.73 m². Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nasopharyngitis, urinary tract infections, and female genital mycotic infections. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Other potential side effects include increased urination and thirst.

Precautions: Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, dialysis, and hypersensitivity to linagliptin or empagliflozin. Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, and risk factors for volume depletion. Monitor renal function periodically.

Storage: Store below 30°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
