Emazid L 10/5

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains 10 mg of empagliflozin and 5 mg of linagliptin.

Indications: Emazid L is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both empagliflozin and linagliptin is appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is one tablet (10 mg empagliflozin and 5 mg linagliptin) once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food.

• The dose may be increased to one tablet containing 25 mg empagliflozin and 5 mg linagliptin once daily based on individual needs and tolerability.
• Renal function should be assessed before initiating Emazid L and periodically thereafter.
• Emazid L should not be initiated if eGFR is below 45 mL/min/1.73 m².
• Discontinue Emazid L if eGFR falls below 45 mL/min/1.73 m².

Side Effects: Common side effects may include urinary tract infections, female genital mycotic infections, increased urination, and nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or insulin secretagogues.

Precautions:

• Emazid L is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or dialysis, and in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to empagliflozin or linagliptin.
• Assess renal function before initiating and during therapy.
• Use with caution in patients with risk factors for ketoacidosis.
• Monitor for signs and symptoms of urinary tract infections and genital mycotic infections.
• Consider the risk of volume depletion, especially in patients on diuretics, elderly patients, or patients with renal impairment.
• When used with insulin or insulin secretagogues, a lower dose of these medications may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
