Emjenta 25/5

Presentation: Tablets containing empagliflozin 25 mg and linagliptin 5 mg.

Indications: Indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when treatment with both empagliflozin and linagliptin is appropriate.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is one tablet once daily. It should be taken preferably in the morning, with or without food. Dosage selection should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, glycemic control, and tolerability. Assess renal function prior to initiation and periodically thereafter. Not recommended for use in patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) less than 30 mL/min/1.73 m². Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects associated with empagliflozin may include urinary tract infections and female genital mycotic infections. Common side effects associated with linagliptin may include nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Emjenta is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Other potential side effects may include increased urination and thirst.

Precautions: Not recommended for use in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²) or end-stage renal disease requiring dialysis. Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment (eGFR 30 to < 60 mL/min/1.73 m²), those at risk for volume depletion, and patients with a history of urinary tract infections. Monitor for signs and symptoms of pancreatitis (associated with linagliptin) and ketoacidosis (associated with empagliflozin).

Storage: Store below 30°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
