✨ Emolent (White Soft Paraffin & Liquid Paraffin)

Emolent is a soothing topical ointment used as an emollient to provide symptomatic relief for dry skin conditions.

📋 Indications

• Dry Skin: General use for moisturizing and softening dry, scaly, or itchy skin.

🔬 Pharmacology

The combination of White Soft Paraffin and Liquid Paraffin creates an occlusive barrier on the skin's surface. This "seal" prevents water from evaporating, helping the skin retain moisture and penetrate the outer skin layer (stratum corneum) without significant absorption into the bloodstream.

🥄 Dosage & Administration

• Application: Apply a thin film to the affected area.

• Frequency: Ideally 3 to 4 times a day, or at least twice daily.

• Adult Usage: For large body areas, up to 500g per week may be used.

• Crucial Tip: Always apply in the direction of hair growth. This simple step helps prevent the blocking of hair follicles.

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

• Folliculitis: Prolonged use or incorrect application (rubbing against hair growth) can cause inflamed hair follicles. If this happens, stop using the product.

• Ingestion: If accidentally swallowed, do not induce vomiting (gastric lavage), as paraffin products pose a high risk of lung damage if inhaled. Seek supportive medical care.

• Pregnancy & Lactation: Generally considered safe and not hazardous, though official safety studies are limited.
