Empadi 10 

Presentation:Empadi 10 is presented as film-coated tablets, each containing 10mg of empagliflozin.The tablets are usually available in blister packs. The appearance (shape, color, markings) of the tablets may vary depending on the manufacturer in Bangladesh (e.g., Pacific Pharmaceuticals Ltd.).

Indications: Empadi (empagliflozin) is indicated:  

• As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. 
• To reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovasculardisease.  

Dosage and Administration:The recommendeddose of Empadi is 10 mg once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food.In patients tolerating Empadi 10 mg who require additional glycemic control, the dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily.  

Assess renal function before initiating Empadi. It is not recommended in patients with an eGFR below 45 mL/min/1.73 m². Follow your doctor's specific instructions.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include urinary tract infections and female genital mycotic infections.Other common side effects include increased urination, thirst, nausea, and genital itching. Dehydration and hypotension may also occur.  

Tell your doctor promptly if you experience any unusual or severe side effects, including symptoms of ketoacidosis (trouble breathing, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, confusion), or severe allergic reactions.

Precautions:Empadi (empagliflozin) is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to empagliflozin or any of its ingredients, severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease,or dialysis.  

Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, and those at risk of volume depletion. Monitor renal function periodically.

Use during pregnancy is generally not recommended, especially in the second and third trimesters.Breastfeeding is also not recommended.

Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including herbal supplements, as there may be potential drug interactions, particularly with diuretics and insulin.

Storage: Store Empadi tablets in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture, below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
