Presentation: Empazin 10 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Empagliflozin 10 mg. It is usually presented as a film-coated tablet for oral administration and is available in blister packs.
Indications: Empazin is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. It is also indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease.
Dosage and Administration:The recommendeddose of Empazin is 10 mg once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food. In patients tolerating Empazin, the dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily. In patients with volume depletion, correcting this condition prior to initiation of Empazinis recommended. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation of Empazin.
Side Effects: The most common side effects associated with Empazin are urinary tract infections and female genital mycotic infections. Other common side effects include increased thirst, increased urination, nausea, and genital fungal infections. It may also cause dehydration and low blood pressure in some individuals.
Precautions: Empazin is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to empagliflozin or any of its ingredients, severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, ordialysis. It is not recommended for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal impairment and those at risk of volume depletion (e.g., elderly patients, patients on diuretics). The use of Empazin is not recommended during breastfeeding.
Storage: Store Empazin 10 tablets in a cool and dry place (below 30° C), protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
