Presentation:Empazin-L 10/5 tablets contain 10 mg of empagliflozin and 5 mg of linagliptin.
Indications: Empazin-L is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus whentreatment with both empagliflozin and linagliptin is appropriate.
Dosage and Administration:The recommended dose is one tablet of Empazin-L 10/5 once daily, preferably in the morning, with or without food.The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen. Renal function should be assessed before initiating Empazin-L and periodically thereafter.Empazin-L is not recommended for use in patients with an eGFR below 45 mL/min/1.73 m².
Side Effects:Common side effects may include urinary tract infections, nasopharyngitis, and hypoglycemia (when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas).Other possible side effects include genital mycotic infections in women, increased urination, and thirst.Pancreatitis and ketoacidosis have also been reported with the individual components.
Precautions: Empazin-L is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 45 mL/min/1.73 m²), end-stage renal disease, or dialysis; a history of hypersensitivity reaction to empagliflozin, linagliptin, or any of the excipients; and a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to linagliptin. It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Assess renal function before initiationand monitor periodically. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Empazin-L and it is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
