Entacyd 175 mg Suspension:
- Composition: Each 5 ml suspension contains Aluminium Oxide (Equivalent amount of Aluminium Hydroxide Gel USP): 175 mg and Magnesium Hydroxide (Equivalent amount of Magnesium Hydroxide Paste USP): 225 mg. Each tablet contains Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel BP (AlâOâ 47%, minimum): 250 mg and Magnesium Hydroxide BP: 400 mg.
- Indications: It is indicated for hyperacidity, peptic ulcer, gastritis, heartburn, sour stomach & dyspepsia.
- Dosage: For the suspension, the typical dose is 2 teaspoons (10ml) 1-3 hours after a meal and at bedtime or as directed by the physician. For the tablet, the typical dose is two tablets 1-3 hours after a meal and at bedtime or as directed by the physician.
- Side Effects: Long-term use of any antacid can cause alkaluria, potentially leading to nephrolithiasis due to the precipitation of calcium phosphate.
- Precautions: Antacids can reduce the absorption of tetracycline when taken together. These medications should not be used concomitantly.
- Contraindications: It is contraindicated in hypophosphataemia, alkalosis, and hypermagnesaemia, particularly when abdominal distention is due to partial or complete intestinal obstruction.
