Presentation: Erybac tablets contain Erythromycin as the active ingredient and are available in various strengths, such as 250 mg and 500 mg. It is a product of Drug International Ltd. in Bangladesh and is usually available in blister packs.
Indications: Erybac (Erythromycin) is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including:
Dosage and Administration: Erybac tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food, although absorption may be better on an empty stomach. The usual dosage for adults and children over 8 years is 250-500 mg every six hours for mild to moderate infections, up to 4 g or more daily in severe cases. For children aged 2 to 8 years, the dose is usually 250 mg every six hours or 30-50 mg/kg body weight per day divided into four equal doses. Infants and children up to 2 yearsmay be given 500 mg in divided doses or 30-50 mg/kg body weight in divided doses. Dosage should be as directed by a physician.
Side Effects: Common side effects of Erybac (Erythromycin) may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea. Less common side effects can include allergic reactions (rash, itching), headache, and dizziness. Rarely, more serious side effects like liver problems or heart rhythm abnormalities may occur.
Precautions: Erybac (Erythromycin) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to erythromycin or other macrolide antibiotics. It should be used with caution in patients with impaired hepatic function and in those taking certain other medications that can interact with erythromycin, such as theophylline and warfarin. Alcohol consumption is generally not recommended during treatment.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Erythromycin is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy (Category B by FDA). It is excreted in breast milk, so caution should be exercised when administering to a nursing mother. Consult your doctor for advice.
Storage: Store below 25°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
