Indications: Erythin (Erythromycin) is indicated for the treatment and prevention of a wide range of bacterial infections, including:
Dosage and Administration: Erythin tablets should be swallowed whole and are usually taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals, as food can interfere with absorption. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the type and severity of the infection, as well as the patient's age and weight.Always follow the instructions provided by your physician.
Do not stop taking Erythin even if you feel better, and complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor.
Side Effects:Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.These are usually mild and temporary.
Serious side effects are rare but can include allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), liver problems (jaundice, dark urine, pale stools), heart rhythm abnormalities (fast or irregular heartbeat), and severe intestinal problems (watery or bloody diarrhoea).If you experience any serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention.
Precautions:Erythin (Erythromycin) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to erythromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.It should also not be used with certain other medications that can lead to serious drug interactions, such as ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, astemizole, terfenadine, cisapride, pimozide, and simvastatin.
Caution should be exercised in patients with liver disease, kidney disease, heart problems (including QT prolongation), or myasthenia gravis.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation:Erythromycin is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy when prescribed by a doctor.It passes into breast milk, and caution should be exercised when administering to breastfeeding women.
Storage:Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
