Evit

Presentation: Soft gelatin capsules containing Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopheryl acetate). Available in various strengths, such as 200 IU and 400 IU, depending on the specific product available in Bangladesh.

Indications: Evit is indicated for the treatment and prevention of Vitamin E deficiency. Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that protects the body's cells from damage by free radicals. It plays a vital role in maintaining healthy skin and hair, supporting immune function, and promoting cardiovascular health. It may also be used as a supportive treatment in conditions like Alzheimer's disease, rheumatoid arthritis pain, nerve damage, male infertility, and age-related macular degeneration.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage varies depending on the indication and the individual's needs. For general Vitamin E deficiency in adults, the usual dose is 200-400 IU daily. For specific conditions, higher doses may be recommended by a physician. The capsules should be swallowed whole with water, preferably with or after a meal to enhance absorption. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

Side Effects: Vitamin E is generally well-tolerated at recommended doses. High doses (above 1000 IU per day) may occasionally cause mild and transient gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea and abdominal pain. Other rare side effects like fatigue, headache, and blurred vision have been reported.

Precautions: Use with caution in individuals with bleeding disorders or those taking anticoagulant medications like warfarin, as high doses of Vitamin E may increase the risk of bleeding. It may also interfere with Vitamin K metabolism. Inform your doctor about all other medications and supplements you are taking. There is no strong evidence supporting the use of high doses of Vitamin E during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, and it is generally not recommended during lactation unless advised by a physician.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

Always consult your doctor or pharmacist for specific instructions and guidance regarding your medication. They can assess your individual medical condition and provide the most appropriate advice.
