Exelon 3 Capsule

Presentation: Each capsule contains 3 mg of Rivastigmine (as Rivastigmine Tartrate).

Indications: Exelon is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderately severe dementia of the Alzheimer's type and mild to moderately severe dementia associated with Parkinson's disease.

Dosage and Administration: The initial recommended dose is 1.5 mg twice daily. The dose may be increased in 1.5 mg increments no more frequently than every two weeks to a maximum daily dose of 12 mg (6 mg twice daily). Exelon should be taken with food.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Tremor (in patients with Parkinson's disease dementia)

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur, including severe vomiting, dehydration, weight loss, slow heartbeat, and seizures. It's important to discuss any unusual symptoms with your doctor.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, asthma or other obstructive pulmonary diseases, urinary obstruction, or seizures.
• May cause gastrointestinal disturbances.
• May cause bradycardia (slow heart rate) and syncope (fainting).
• Use with caution in patients with sick sinus syndrome or other supraventricular conduction conditions.
• Monitor weight loss during treatment.
• Exelon transdermal patches are also available and provide a different mode of administration; ensure you are using the correct formulation as prescribed.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your doctor.

Contraindications: Exelon is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rivastigmine, other carbamate derivatives, or any of the excipients.

Drug Interactions: Caution should be exercised when Exelon is used concomitantly with other cholinergic drugs. Anticholinergic medications may reduce the efficacy of Exelon.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
