Fertinatal

Presentation: Usually presented as tablets containing Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), often in strengths of 25 mg or 50 mg. May also contain other ingredients like Folic Acid and Vitamin D3 in some formulations.

Indications: May be used to support ovarian health and enhance fertility in women, particularly those with diminished ovarian reserve or of advanced maternal age. Some evidence suggests it may improve egg quality and increase the chances of pregnancy in assisted reproductive technologies. Also investigated for other conditions like adrenal insufficiency and mood disorders.

Dosage & Administration: Dosage varies depending on the indication and formulation. For fertility, common doses range from 50-75 mg per day in divided doses. Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common: oily skin, acne, hair loss, increased hair growth on the face (in women), increased sweating, and voice deepening. Less common: mood changes (irritability, excitability), increased libido. Rare: may affect cholesterol levels or liver function.

Precautions: Not recommended for use in individuals under 18 years of age. Contraindicated in hormone-sensitive cancers (breast, prostate, ovarian, uterine), and may be contraindicated in individuals with a history of psychiatric disorders. Use with caution in individuals with diabetes, liver dysfunction, or polycystic ovary syndrome. May interact with other medications. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
