Indication:

Florest is used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and major depressive episodes (major depression). It's an SSRI that increases serotonin levels in the brain, helping to restore mental balance.

Dosage and Administration:

For adults with OCD, the usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily, typically in the evening. The dose can be gradually increased every 4-7 days to a maximum of 300 mg daily. For major depression, the starting dose is usually 50 mg or 100 mg once daily in the evening, with potential increases up to 300 mg daily (doses over 150 mg are divided).

For children/adolescents (8-17) with OCD, the starting dose is 25 mg once daily at bedtime, with possible weekly increases of 25 mg up to a 200 mg daily maximum.

Swallow Florest tablets whole with water, with or without food. Take regularly as prescribed for best results.

Side Effects:

Common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, appetite loss, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, anxiety, tremor, dry mouth, increased sweating, and sexual dysfunction. These are usually mild and may subside.

Less common but serious: severe allergic reactions, agitation, confusion, hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, fever, muscle stiffness/twitching, loss of coordination, or seizures. Seek immediate medical help for these.

Precautions:

Use cautiously with a history of mania, seizures, liver/kidney disease, or bleeding disorders. May increase suicidal thoughts in young individuals, requiring close monitoring.

Inform your doctor about all medications, including OTC and supplements, due to potential interactions. Gradual discontinuation is advised to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

Discuss use during pregnancy and breastfeeding with a doctor due to potential risks.
