Flurium 5 Tablet - (5mg Flunarizine)

Presentation: Each tablet contains 5 mg of Flunarizine (as Flunarizine Dihydrochloride). 

Indications: Flurium 5 is primarily used for the prophylactic treatment of migraine headaches. It helps reduce the frequency and severity of migraine attacks but is not effective in treating an acute migraine once it has started.It may also be used in the treatment of vestibular vertigo (dizziness due to inner ear problems).  

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose for migraine prophylaxis in adults under 65 years is 5 mg once daily, taken in the evening. If there is no improvement after 4 to 8 weeks, the dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily in the evening. The maintenance dose should be the lowest effective dose. Treatment duration is usually limited to 6 months, and the medication should be withdrawn gradually if it is to be discontinued. For vestibular vertigo, the usual dose is 10 mg once daily.

Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, weight gain, and increased appetite. Other possible side effects are dizziness, fatigue, constipation, dry mouth, and anxiety. Less common but potentially troublesome side effects include symptoms of depression and extrapyramidal symptoms (such as muscle stiffness or slow movements), particularly in elderly patients.  

Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of depression, Parkinson's disease, or other movement disorders. Flunarizine may cause drowsiness, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery.Avoid alcohol consumption as it can enhance the sedative effects.Use in pregnant or breastfeeding women should be carefully considered and only if clearly needed. Elderly patients may be more susceptible to certain side effects, such as extrapyramidal symptoms.  

Storage:Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light.Keep out of reach of children.
