Folidel 15 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Calcium Folinate Hydrate BP 18.746 mg equivalent to Folinic Acid 15 mg. Available in strips of [Specify number, usually 10] tablets, manufactured by Delta Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Folidel is indicated for:

• Calcium Folinate Rescue:A treatment technique using calcium folinate in conjunction with folic acid antagonists, e.g., methotrexate, to minimizesystemic toxicity and counteract the effects of impaired methotrexate elimination.
• Neutralizing the immediate toxic effects of folic acid antagonists: In case of accidental overdose of methotrexate.
• Treatment of megaloblastic anemias: Due to sprue, nutritional deficiency, pregnancy, infancy, liver disease, and malabsorption syndrome.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage varies depending on the indication and the specific treatment protocol.

• Folinic Acid Rescue after Methotrexate Therapy: Folinic Acid rescue should begin as soon as possible after inadvertent overdosage or within 24 hours of methotrexate administration when there is delayed excretion. The usual dose is 15 mg (approximately 10 mg/m²) every 6 hours for 10 doses. Dosage regimens vary depending upon the dose of methotrexate administered.
• Neutralizing the immediate toxic effects of folic acid antagonists:If overdosage of methotrexate is suspected, the dose of Folinic Acid should be equal to or greater than the doseof methotrexate and should be administered within one hour of the methotrexate administration. 
• MegaloblasticAnemia (folate deficiency): 5 mg to 15 mg of Folinic Acid per day.

Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor. The tablets are for oral administration.

Side Effects: Allergic reactions, including skin rash, itching, and swelling, may occur. In rare cases, fits (seizures) and fainting have been reported. Gastrointestinal disturbances are also possible.

Precautions:

• Folidel is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to calcium folinate or any other components of this product. 
• It is also contraindicated in pernicious anemia or other megaloblastic anemia where vitamin B12 is deficient. 
• Folinates given in large amounts may counteract the antiepileptic effect of phenobarbitone, phenytoin, and primidone and increase the frequency of seizures in susceptible patients. 
• Caution is required during concurrent administration of calcium folinate with fluoropyrimidine as this has been associated with seizures and syncope.  

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
