Folison-Z 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Folic Acid BP 5 mg and Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate BP equivalent to elemental Zinc 20 mg.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of folic acid and zinc deficiencies. Folic acid is essential for cell division and the formation of red blood cells. Zinc is important for growth, immunity, wound healing, and various metabolic processes. This combination is often used during pregnancy to prevent neural tube defects and support healthy fetal development, as well as in other conditions with increased needs for these nutrients.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dosage is one tablet daily or as directed by a physician. It is generally recommended to take the tablet after a meal.

Side Effects: Folic acid is generally well-tolerated. High doses may cause gastrointestinal disturbances. Zinc may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach upset, particularly if taken on an empty stomach.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to folic acid or zinc. Folic acid should not be used to treat undiagnosed anemia, as it can mask the symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency. Zinc may interact with certain antibiotics (tetracyclines and quinolones), reducing their absorption; separate administration by at least 3 hours. Zinc may also reduce the absorption of penicillamine. In acute renal failure, zinc accumulation may occur.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 30°C.
