Gabapen 300

Presentation: Capsules containing Gabapentin BP 300 mg.

Indications: Treatment of neuropathic pain, including diabetic neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia. Adjunctive therapy for partial seizures in adults and children aged 3 years and older.

Dosage & Administration: Dosage is individualized. For neuropathic pain in adults, the usual starting dose is 300 mg three times daily, which may be gradually increased by the physician up to a maximum of 3600 mg daily in divided doses. For partial seizures in adults and children over 12 years, the starting dose is 300 mg three times daily, gradually increased. In children aged 3-12 years, the starting dose is 10-15 mg/kg/day in three divided doses, which may be increased. Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common: dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, ataxia (lack of coordination), nystagmus (involuntary eye movements), tremor, diplopia (double vision), nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, peripheral edema (swelling of the extremities).

Precautions: Inform physician of kidney problems. Use caution with alcohol and other CNS depressants. May cause dizziness and drowsiness; caution advised while driving or operating machinery. Inform physician if pregnant or breastfeeding. Gradual withdrawal recommended.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
