Gabatec 25 Capsule
Generic Name: Pregabalin
Strength: Each capsule contains Pregabalin 25 mg.
Indications:
Gabatec is used to treat:
- Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and spinal cord injury.
- Fibromyalgia.
- As adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults.
Dosage and Administration:
- Dosage should be individualized by a physician.
- The usual dose range is 150 to 600 mg per day, given in two or three divided doses. Lower starting doses may be used, such as:
- Neuropathic Pain: Start with 75 mg twice daily (150 mg/day), may increase based on response and tolerability.
- Fibromyalgia: Start with 75 mg twice daily (150 mg/day), may increase based on response and tolerability.
- Partial-Onset Seizures: Start with 75 mg twice daily (150 mg/day), may increase based on response and tolerability.
- Gabatec capsules can be taken with or without food.
- The 25 mg strength is often used for initial titration to minimize side effects or for lower maintenance doses as determined by your doctor.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any of the excipients.
Side Effects:
- Common: Dizziness, somnolence (sleepiness), dry mouth, edema (swelling), blurred vision, weight gain.
Precautions:
- May cause angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat). Discontinue if this occurs.
- May cause dizziness and somnolence, which can impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
- Use with caution in patients with pre-existing heart failure or renal impairment.
- Withdrawal should be gradual to minimize the risk of increased seizure frequency.
- Monitor for mood changes or suicidal thoughts.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:
- Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
- Lactation: Pregabalin is excreted in human milk. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
Storage:
- Store below 30°C.
- Keep out of reach of children.
