Presentation: Each tablet contains Vildagliptin 50 mg. Available in strips.

Indications: As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus:

• As monotherapy in patients for whom metformin is inappropriate due to contraindications or intolerance.
• In combination with other antidiabetic medicinal products, including metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, when these do not provide adequate glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration:

• Monotherapy: 50 mg or 100 mg daily (either as 50 mg once daily or 50 mg twice daily).
• Dual combination with metformin or a thiazolidinedione: 50 mg twice daily (morning and evening).
• Dual combination with a sulfonylurea: 50 mg once daily in the morning.
• Combination with insulin (with or without metformin): 50 mg twice daily.

May be taken with or without food. No dosage adjustment is required in elderly patients or in patients with mild renal impairment. Not recommended for use in patients under 18 years of age.

Side Effects: The majority of adverse reactions are mild and transient. Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, nausea. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with sulfonylureas or insulin. Rare cases of hepatic dysfunction have been reported.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or any of the excipients, moderate to severe renal impairment, and hepatic impairment (ALT or AST >3 times the upper limit of normal). Not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in patients with congestive heart failure. Monitor liver function tests periodically.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
