Dosage and Administration: Gaviscon Liquid Sachets are for oral administration. The usual dose for adults and children over 12 years is 1-2 sachets (10-20 ml) after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. Side Effects: Gaviscon is generally well-tolerated when used as directed. However, very rare side effects may include allergic reactions to the ingredients. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include:

Precautions: Gaviscon is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, or any of the other ingredients.
Special caution should be taken in patients who have been advised to follow a diet restricted in sodium or calcium, as Gaviscon contains significant amounts of these salts. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have severe kidney or heart disease. If symptoms persist after 7 days, medical advice should be sought. Gaviscon may interact with other medications if taken too close together; it is generally advised to leave a 2-hour interval between taking Gaviscon and other oral medicines.
