Gerdnil 60 

Presentation: Gerdnil 60, available in Bangladesh, contains Dexlansoprazole 60 mg in a delayed-release capsule formulation. It is usually available in blister packs. Gerdnil is a product of Team Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Indications: Gerdnil (Dexlansoprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for the treatment of:

• Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (EE) for up to 8 weeks.  
• Maintaining healing of EE and relief of heartburn for up to 6 months.  
• Treatment of heartburn associated with symptomatic non-erosive Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) for 4 weeks.  

Dosage and Administration:   Gerdnil 60 capsules should be swallowed whole and can be taken without regard to food. Alternatively, the capsule can be opened, and the intact granules sprinkled on one tablespoon of applesauce and swallowed immediately. Granules should not be chewed. The usual dose for healing erosive esophagitis in adults and children over 12 years is 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. For maintenance and symptomatic non-erosive GERD, the dose is usually 30 mg once daily. Always follow the physician's specific instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects of Gerdnil (Dexlansoprazole) may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and flatulence.

Precautions: Gerdnil (Dexlansoprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. Gastric malignancy should be excluded before initiating therapy. Caution should be exercised with concomitant use of methotrexate. Long-term use may lead to an increased risk of bone fracture and hypomagnesemia.

Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Gerdnil should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus (Pregnancy CategoryB). It is not known whether Dexlansoprazole is excreted in human milk; caution should be exercised when administering to breastfeeding women.

Storage: Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
