Glifo 25

Presentation:Tablet containing 25 mg Empagliflozin INN.  

Indications:As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.To reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovasculardisease.  

Dosage & Administration:The recommendedstarting dose is 10 mg once daily in the morning, with or without food. In patients tolerating this dose, it may be increased to 25 mg once daily.Correct volume depletion before initiating.Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation and periodically thereafter; not recommended in patients with eGFR < 45 mL/min/1.73 m².Administer orally once daily in the morning.  

Side Effects:Common: urinary tract infections, female genital mycotic infections, increased urination.Other common side effects include dehydration, hypotension, weakness, dizziness, and increased thirst.  

Precautions:Renal impairment (contraindicated in severe impairment, ESRD, or dialysis), history of serious hypersensitivity to empagliflozin, assessment of renal function recommended before and during treatment.Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.May increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with insulin or insulin secretagogues.

Storage:Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
