Glifo-M XR 25/1000 

Presentation: Each extended-release tablet contains Empagliflozin INN 25 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride BP 1000 mg. Available in strips.

Indications:Indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellituswhen treatment with both empagliflozin andmetformin is appropriate. May also reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease.  

Dosage and Administration:Thedosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, glycemic control, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of empagliflozin 25 mg and metformin 2000 mg. Usually taken once or twice daily with meals. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew. Dose escalation should be gradual to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. Assess renal function prior to initiation.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, increased urination, and genital mycotic infections. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to empagliflozin or metformin. Not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, history of pancreatitis, and risk factors for volume depletion. Avoid excessive alcohol intake.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
