Glinta 5

Presentation: Each tablet of Glinta 5 contains 5 mg of linagliptin.

Indications: Glinta 5 is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control. It can be used as monotherapy in patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone and for whom metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications.It can also be used in combination with other antidiabetic medications, including metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin, when diet and exercise plus the single or dual therapy do not provide adequate glycemic control.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Glinta 5 is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food at any time of the day. If added to metformin, the metformin dose should be maintained. When used in combination with a sulfonylurea, a lower dose of the sulfonylurea may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment.

Side Effects: Common side effects reported with linagliptin include nasopharyngitis. When used in combination with metformin and a sulfonylurea, common side effects may include hypoglycemia, cough, and pancreatitis.

Precautions: Glinta 5 is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reaction to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Caution should be exercised when Glinta 5 is used in combination with sulfonylureas, as this may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. A dose reduction of the sulfonylurea may be considered.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
