Glipita M 1000
Presentation: Glipita M 1000 tablets contain 50 mg of sitagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin hydrochloride. They are typically film-coated and available in blister packs.
Indications: Glipita M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both sitagliptin and metformin is appropriate.
Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Glipita M should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of 100 mg of sitagliptin and 2000 mg of metformin. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose for you. Renal function should be assessed before initiating Glipita M and periodically thereafter. Glipita M is contraindicated in patients with an eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m².
Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, headache, and nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Glipita M is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Pancreatitis has been reported with sitagliptin.
Precautions: Glipita M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to sitagliptin, metformin, or any of the excipients. It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Assess renal function before initiation and monitor periodically. Avoid excessive alcohol intake. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis.
Storage: Store below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
