Indications:Glipxen M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both linagliptin and metforminis appropriate.
Dosage and Administration:The dosageof Glipxen M should be individualized based on effectiveness and tolerability, without exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of 5mg linagliptin and 2000mg metformin. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.
Follow your doctor's specific instructions regarding the dosage and timing of Glipxen M.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, and headache. Nasal congestion, sore throat, and respiratory tract infections may also occur. When used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas, there is an increased risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
Tell your doctor promptly if you experience any unusual or severe side effects, including symptoms of lactic acidosis (e.g., deep and rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain) or pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain).
Precautions:Glipxen M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or metformin. It is not recommended in patients with active liver disease or excessive alcohol intake.
Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, and a history of pancreatitis. Due to the metformin component, there is a risk of lactic acidosis, a serious metabolic complication.Temporary discontinuation of Glipxen M may be necessary in situations of dehydration, severe infection, or before surgery or certain radiological procedures involving iodinated contrast agents.
Monitor renal function before starting and periodically during treatment. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption.
The safety and efficacy of Glipxen M in children under 18 years have not been established. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be carefully considered and is generally not recommended unless clearly needed.
