Glitamin 500 

Presentation:Each tablet contains Metformin Hydrochloride BP 500 mg and Pioglitazone Hydrochloride INN equivalent to Pioglitazone 15 mg.Available in strips.

Indications:Indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.  

Dosageand Administration: The dosage should be individualized based on effectiveness and tolerability. The usual starting dose is one tablet once or twice daily with meals. The maximum recommended daily dose of pioglitazone is 45 mg and metformin is 2550 mg. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew. Dose escalation should be gradual to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.  

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and edema. Weight gain may occur due to pioglitazone.Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, active liver disease, and known hypersensitivity to pioglitazone or metformin. Not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, and a history of bladder cancer. Avoid excessive alcohol intake.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
