Glix 80

Presentation:Tablets containing 80 mg gliclazide.  

Indications:Indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and weight loss alone are insufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control.  

Dosage and Administration: The usual initial dose is 80 mg once or twice daily, taken with meals. Dosage may be adjusted gradually based on blood glucose levels, usually in increments of 40-80 mg at intervals of at least one to two weeks, up to a maximum daily dose of 320 mg in divided doses. Follow physician's instructions. Swallow tablets whole; do not crush or chew.  

Side Effects: The most common side effect is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Other potential side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation), headache, skin reactions (rash, itching), and visual disturbances, especially at the start of treatment. Rarely, changes in blood counts or liver function may occur.

Precautions: Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, elderly patients, and those with a risk of hypoglycemia. Regular blood glucose monitoring is essential. Avoid or minimize alcohol consumption.Certain medications can interact with gliclazide, affecting blood glucose control.Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally not recommended.  

Storage:Store below 30°C, in a dry place, protected from light.Keep out of reach of children.
