Glucomet XR 750

Presentation:Each extended-release tablet contains 750 mg of metformin hydrochloride.

Indications:Glucomet XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in overweight patients, when dietary management and exercise alone do not result in adequate glycemic control.In adults, it may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or with insulin.  

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose of Metformin XR is 500 mg once daily with the evening meal. The dose may be increased in increments of 500 mg weekly, up to a maximum of 2000 mg once daily with the evening meal, or alternatively increased to 1000 mg twice daily taken with meals.The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's response and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of 2000 mg. The tablet should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed.  

Side Effects:Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.These are usually transient and may occur at the beginning of therapy. A metallic taste may also occur.Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious potential side effect.  

Precautions:Renal function should be assessed before initiating Glucomet XR and regularly thereafter.It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²). Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, heart failure, and excessive alcohol intake. Temporary discontinuation may be needed for surgical procedures or iodinated contrast studies.  

Storage:Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
