Glunor 500

Presentation:Tablet containing 500 mg Metformin Hydrochloride BP.  

Indications: Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, along with diet and exercise. First-line therapy in overweight adults with type 2 diabetes to reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.  

Dosage & Administration: Dosage is individualized. Usual starting dose for adults: 500 mg twice daily or 850 mg once daily with meals. Gradual increase based on response and tolerance, up to a maximum of 2000-2550 mg daily in divided doses. Children (10+ years): Initially 500 mg twice daily with meals, maximum 2000 mg daily in divided doses.Renal function should be monitored; adjust dose accordingly. Administer orally with meals.  

Side Effects:Common: gastrointestinal disturbances (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, flatulence).Less common: lactic acidosis (rare but serious), vitamin B12 deficiency with prolonged use.

Precautions: Renal impairment (contraindicated in severe impairment), hepatic impairment, excessive alcohol intake, surgery and radiologic procedures (temporary discontinuation may be needed), pregnancy and lactation (not generally recommended). Monitor renal function periodically.

Storage: Store at room temperature (15-30°C), away from moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
