Glysup 2 

Presentation: Glysup 2 is a suppository containing Glycerin BP 2.30 gm. Glysup 2 is a product of Square Pharmaceuticals PLC in Bangladesh and is usually available in strips of suppositories. The suppository is for rectal administration.

Indications: Glysup (Glycerin) is a hyperosmotic laxative indicated for the relief of occasional constipation. It works by drawing water into the bowel, which softens the stool and promotes bowel movement. It typically produces a bowel movement within 15 minutes to 1 hour.

Dosage and Administration: Glysup 2 suppository is for rectal use only.

• Adults and Children (from 6 years): Insert one Glysup 2.30 gm suppository well up into the rectum per 24 hours or as directed by a physician.
• Children (2 to 6 years): Use Glysup 1.15 gm suppository (if available) or as directed by a physician.

The suppository needs to melt completely to produce a laxative action.

Side Effects: When used rectally, Glysup (Glycerin) may cause local irritation such as rectal discomfort or a burning sensation.

Precautions: Glysup (Glycerin) is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to the ingredients. It should not be used unless the patient is actually constipated.

Caution should be exercised in patients with hypervolaemia, cardiac failure, renal disease, and in dehydrated patients or those with diabetes mellitus.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: There are no controlled data regarding the use of Glycerin suppositories during human pregnancy. It should be used only when clearly needed and under the advice of a healthcare professional. Caution should be exercised when used by lactating women.

Storage: Store below 25°C. Protect from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
