Grincal D 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (from algae or coral source) and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Available in various strengths, commonly Calcium Carbonate 1250 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg) with Vitamin D3 200 IU. Pack sizes may vary. Manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Calcium Carbonate BP (from algae or coral source) and Vitamin D3 USP (Cholecalciferol). The specific amount of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 will be mentioned on the product packaging.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency. Used in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and hypoparathyroidism. Also used as a supplement during pregnancy and lactation, in elderly patients, and during therapy with anti-seizure medications. May also be used in kidney disease and pancreatitis.

Dosage & Administration: Usual adult dose is one tablet in the morning and one tablet at night, or as directed by a physician. The tablet should be taken orally.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include an irregular heartbeat, nausea, dry mouth, weakness, headache, and a metallic taste in the mouth. Less common side effects include flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, and upper gastrointestinal discomfort. Hypercalcemia may occur with prolonged use.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, metastatic calcification, and hypersensitivity to any of the components. Use with caution in patients with mild hypercalciuria, mild to moderate renal impairment, and a history of renal stones. Calcium salts may reduce the absorption of bisphosphonates, ciprofloxacin, fluorides, iron, levothyroxine, tetracycline, and zinc. Increased risk of hypercalcemia when Calcium and Vitamin D3 are given with thiazides and related diuretics. Absorption of calcium salts is reduced by corticosteroids.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
