Gynest Cream 

Presentation:Gynest Cream is a vaginal cream containing Estriol (an estrogen hormone), typically at a strength of 0.1% (1mg/1gm).It is available in tubes, often with a reusable or disposable applicator for intravaginal administration. The appearance of the cream is usually whitish.

Indications: Gynest Cream is indicated for the treatment of estrogen deficiency, specifically for the relief of vulvo-vaginal symptoms associated with menopause, such as:

• Vaginal dryness
• Vaginal burning and itching 
• Painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
• Urinary symptoms (urgency, frequency) related to estrogen deficiency
• It may also be used before and after vaginal surgery to aid in healing and for preparing for Pap smears.  

Dosage and Administration: Gynest Cream is for intravaginal use only, as directed by a physician. The usual starting dose for vulvo-vaginal complaints is one application (0.5 mg estriol) per day for 2-3 weeks, followed by a maintenance dose of one application two to three times per week. It is usually applied at night using the provided applicator.Follow the specific instructions provided by your doctor.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include local irritation or itching of the vagina, increased vaginal discharge, swelling and tenderness of the breasts. Less common side effects can include nausea, fluid retention, and headache. In most patients, these side effects are mild and transient, disappearing within the first weeks of treatment.

Precautions: Gynest Cream is contraindicated in patients with known or suspected breast cancer, other hormone-dependent cancers, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, active thromboembolic disease, or a history of these conditions. It is also contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. Caution should be exercised in patients with conditions that may be exacerbated by estrogens, such as epilepsy, migraine, asthma, or cardiac or renal dysfunction.
