Gynova 2

Presentation: Each tablet typically contains 2 mg of estradiol.

Indications: Gynova 2 is indicated for:

  • Short-term treatment of climacteric symptoms following the cessation of menstruation, such as hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, depressive moods, irritability, headaches, and dizziness.
  • Treatment of deficiency symptoms after oophorectomy (removal of ovaries) or radiological castration for non-cancerous conditions.
  • It may also have a favorable influence on bladder irritation and signs of cutaneous and mucosal involution, particularly in the genital region, associated with aging.
  • Prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women at high risk of fractures when other medications are not suitable.

Dosage and Administration: The usual dosage is 1 tablet (2 mg estradiol) taken orally once daily, swallowed whole with some liquid. Treatment is continuous, with the next pack started immediately after finishing the previous one without a break. It is preferable to take the tablet at the same time each day. If a tablet is missed, it should be taken within 12 to 24 hours. If treatment is discontinued for a longer period, irregular bleeding may occur. Treatment duration should be as prescribed by the doctor, and the need for continued therapy should be reassessed periodically. For women with a uterus, a progestogen should be added for at least 10-14 days of each cycle to counteract the risk of endometrial hyperplasia.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, breast tenderness, nausea, abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding or spotting. Less common but potentially serious side effects include an increased risk of blood clots (venous thromboembolism), stroke, and heart disease. Other possible side effects include changes in libido, mood disturbances, skin reactions, and fluid retention.

Precautions: Gynova 2 is contraindicated in women with known or suspected breast cancer, known or suspected estrogen-dependent neoplasms, undiagnosed genital bleeding, untreated endometrial hyperplasia, previous or current venous thromboembolism (e.g., deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism), known thrombophilic disorders,a history of arterial thromboembolic disease (e.g., stroke, myocardial infarction), acute liver disease or a history of liver disease where liver function tests have not returned to normal, porphyria, and known hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients. Caution should be exercised in women with risk factors for thromboembolic events, hypertension, migraine, diabetes mellitus, hypertriglyceridemia, and endometriosis. The use of hormone replacement therapy may increase the risk of certain cancers. Regular medical check-ups, including breast examinations and mammograms, are recommended.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
