Hemorif DS (Diosmin & Hesperidin): A Phlebotonic and Vascular Protecting Agent
Hemorif DS contains a micronized combination of Diosmin and Hesperidin. It is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic hemorrhoidal attacks, as well as chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs. Its primary function is to reinforce venous tone and protect the microcirculation. Hemorif DS belongs to the therapeutic class of Phlebotonic and Vascular protecting preparations.
How Hemorif DS Works (Pharmacology)
Diosmin and Hesperidin work together to improve blood vessel health:
- Reinforces Venous Tone: The drug prolongs the activity of noradrenaline on the venous walls. This decreases venous capacitance (the ability of a vein to hold blood), venous distensibility (how much it can stretch), and venous emptying time, which helps to improve blood flow.
- Protects Microcirculation: It fights against microcirculation damage by decreasing leukocyte activation, which in turn inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators like free radicals and prostaglandins. This action normalizes capillary permeability and strengthens capillary resistance.
- Improves Lymphatic Drainage: It acts on the lymphatic system by increasing lymph flow and lymph oncotic pressure, which helps to reduce fluid buildup and swelling.
