Hexinor 1
Presentation: Each tablet contains Trihexyphenidyl Hydrochloride BP 1 mg.
Indications: Hexinor (Trihexyphenidyl) is indicated as an adjunct in the treatment of all forms of parkinsonism (postencephalitic, arteriosclerotic, and idiopathic). It is often usefulas partial replacement therapy when treating these forms with levodopa. It is also indicated for the control of extrapyramidal disorders caused by central nervous system drugs such as the phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, and butyrophenones.
Dosage and Administration: Dosage should be individualized and determined by a healthcare professional.
Hexinor tablets are administered orally. Elderly and particularly sensitive patients should be given lower doses initially.
Side Effects: Common adverse reactions are those typically associated with anticholinergic drugs, such as dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, mild nausea, nervousness, and drowsiness. These reactions tend to become less pronounced, and the patient often develops a tolerance as treatment is continued. Other potential side effects include constipation, urinary hesitancy or retention, tachycardia, mydriasis, and increased intraocular pressure. Mental confusion and agitation may occur, especially in elderly patients or in those with a previous history of poor mental tolerance.
Precautions: Hexinor is contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma. Caution should be exercised in patients with prostatic hypertrophy, obstructive diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, or a history of tachycardia. Patients with arteriosclerosis or with a history of drug idiosyncrasies may exhibit mental confusion, agitation, disturbed behavior, or nausea and vomiting. If severe adverse reactions occur, the dosage should be reduced or the drug discontinued.
Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
Note: This information is a general overview. Trihexyphenidyl is a prescription medication and should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Always consult your doctor for specific prescribing information and management.
