Hypnocum 7.5 contains Midazolam at a strength of 7.5mg per tablet.

Indications:

Hypnocum (Midazolam) is a benzodiazepine indicated for:

• Short-term treatment of insomnia.
• Sedation in premedication before surgical or diagnostic procedures.

It is characterized by a rapid onset and short duration of action and also exerts anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, and muscle-relaxant effects.

Dosage and Administration:

For adults with insomnia, the usual oral dose is 7.5-15 mg daily. In elderly and debilitated patients, the recommended dose is 7.5 mg. For premedication, 15 mg of Midazolam should be given1 orally 30-60 minutes before the procedure. The duration of treatment for insomnia should usually not exceed 2 weeks.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include drowsiness during the daytime, confusion, fatigue, headache, and muscle weakness, which usually disappear with repeated administration. Anterograde amnesia may occur.

Precautions:

Midazolam should be avoided during pregnancy unless there is no safer alternative. It should not be administered to breastfeeding mothers as it passes into breast milk. Caution should be exercised in patients with respiratory or hepatic insufficiency. It can enhance the central sedative effect of other CNS depressants, including alcohol. Prolonged use may lead to dependence. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided due to the risk of withdrawal symptoms.
