Infusol 

Presentation: Sterile, aqueous solution for intravenous infusion. Typically contains Sodium Chloride (0.9%) and may also contain Dextrose (5%) in some formulations (e.g., Infusol Plus). Available in 500 ml bottles. Manufactured by Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC and other companies in Bangladesh.

Indications: Used for fluid and electrolyte replacement, particularly in cases of dehydration. Dextrose-containing solutions also provide a source of carbohydrates. May be indicated in conditions where patients cannot take fluids and nutrients orally, such as persistent vomiting, during and after surgery, shock, or accidents. Sodium Chloride solutions are used to treat sodium depletion and as a vehicle for compatible intravenous drugs.

Dosage and Administration: Dosage is variable and depends on the patient's clinical condition, age, body weight, and fluid and electrolyte balance. It is administered intravenously under medical supervision. The infusion rate will be determined by the physician.

Side Effects: Reactions may include fever, infection at the injection site, venous thrombosis or phlebitis extending from the injection site, extravasation, and hypervolemia.Dextrose-containing solutions may cause hyperglycemia, especially in diabetic patients. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur.

Precautions: Should be administered with caution in patients with congestive heart failure, peripheral or pulmonary edema, impaired renal function, or pre-eclampsia due to the Sodium Chloride content. Serum glucose should be monitored in diabetic patients, and insulin may be required. Do not use if the solution is cloudy, contains particles, or after the expiry date. Monitor fluid balance and electrolytes during administration.

Storage: Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children. Discard any unused portion.
