Janvia 100

Presentation: Each tablet contains Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate equivalent to 100 mg of Sitagliptin.

Indications: Janvia 100 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other glucose-lowering medications such as metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Janvia 100 is 100 mg once daily, which can be taken with or without food. In patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance ≥ 30 to < 50 mL/min), the dose is 50 mg once daily. In patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min) or end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, the dose is 25 mg once daily. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered. A double dose should not be taken on the same day.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, upper respiratory tract infection (e.g., common cold, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose), and nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Janvia 100 is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Less common side effects may include dizziness and constipation. Rare but serious side effects include pancreatitis, severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis, angioedema, exfoliative skin conditions), kidney problems, and severe joint pain.

Precautions: Janvia 100 is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to sitagliptin or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution should be exercised in patients with renal impairment, a history of pancreatitis, heart failure, and when used in combination with medications that can cause hypoglycemia. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation and periodically thereafter. Patients should be monitored for signs and symptoms of pancreatitis and heart failure.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
