Jardimet XR 10/1000

Presentation:Each extended-release tablet of Jardimet XR 10/1000 contains 10 mg of empagliflozin and 1000 mg of metformin hydrochloride.Jardimet XR tablets are available in blister packs containing a specific number of tablets. Please refer to the product packaging for exact details.

Indications:Jardimet XR is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control when treatment with both empagliflozin and metformin is appropriate. It is used in patients inadequately controlled on their maximally tolerated dose of metformin alone or in combination with other glucose-lowering medications, or in patients already being treated with separate tablets of empagliflozin and metformin.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommendeddaily dose of empagliflozin (25 mg) and metformin (2000 mg). Jardimet XR should be taken orally once daily with a meal, preferably in the morning. Tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed, split, or chewed. The starting dose should be individualized based on the patient's prior antihyperglycemic treatment. Renal function should be assessed before initiating Jardimet XR and periodically thereafter.Jardimet XR is contraindicated in patients with an eGFR below 45 mL/min/1.73 m².

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and increased urination.Genital mycotic infections may occur more frequently in women. Hypoglycemia may occur when Jardimet XR is used in combination with insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulfonylureas) or insulin. Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious potential side effect associated with metformin.

Precautions: Jardimet XR is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), end-stage renal disease, or dialysis. It should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to empagliflozin or metformin, acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is advised in patients with a history of ketoacidosis, heart failure, and liver impairment. Excessive alcohol intake should be avoided.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
