Kerasol Product Information Summary

Indications

• 6% Kerasol Cream: Chronic atopic dermatitis, lichen simplex, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and ichthyosis.

• 12% Kerasol Cream: Warts, verrucae, corns, and calluses.

• 2% Kerasol Lotion: Mild to moderate acne, blackheads, whiteheads, facial redness/swelling, pimples, and prevention of future breakouts.

Description & Pharmacology

Kerasol contains salicylic acid, a topical keratolytic agent.

• Mechanism: Softens and destroys the stratum corneum by increasing endogenous hydration, causing the horny layer of skin to swell, soften, and desquamate (peel).

• Additional Properties: Exhibits weak antifungal and antibacterial activity, slight antiseptic action, and keratoplastic effects at low concentrations.

Dosage & Administration

• 6% & 12% Cream: Apply once daily to the affected area. Hydrate the skin for 5 minutes prior if possible, occlude at night, and wash off in the morning. Suitable for children over 2 years.

• 2% Lotion: Apply once daily during the 1st week, increasing to 2–3 times daily from the 2nd week. Gently rub, leave for 3–5 minutes, then rinse with cool water. Suitable for children over 2 years.

Safety & Precautions

• Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or formulation ingredients.

• Side Effects: Severe skin irritation or allergic reactions (hives, swelling, shortness of breath).

• Pregnancy & Lactation: Pregnancy Category C. Nursing mothers must avoid applying to the chest area to prevent infant contamination.

• Warnings: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use other topical treatments simultaneously without medical advice.

Storage & Handling

• Store below 30°C, away from light, and out of reach of children.

• Seek immediate medical hospitalization if accidental ingestion occurs.
