Ketifen syrup with a concentration of 1mg/5ml contains the active ingredient ketotifen. It is an antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer. 

Common uses include:

• Prophylaxis of bronchial asthma:It's used long-term to help prevent asthma attacks, but it will not relieve an acute asthma attack. It may take several weeks to see the full benefits.

Dosage:

The usual dosage is:

• Adults: 1 mg (5 ml) twice daily with food. In severe cases, the dose may be increased to 2 mg (10 ml) twice daily.
• Children above 3 years: 1 mg (5 ml) twice daily with food.
• Children 6 months to 3 years:Dosage is based on body weight and should be determined by a doctor.A common guideline is 0.25 ml of syrup per kilogram of body weight twice daily. 

Important Considerations:

• Ketotifen is not effective for treating sudden asthma attacks. You will need to use a separate "rescue" inhaler for that.
• It's important to continue your regular asthma medications when starting ketotifen, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
• Ketotifen may cause drowsiness, especially at the beginning of treatment. Be cautious when driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. Alcohol can increase this drowsiness and should be avoided. 
• Inform your doctor if you have epilepsy or a history of seizures, as ketotifen may increase the risk of seizures in some individuals. 
• The syrup may contain carbohydrates, so individuals with diabetes should be aware and monitor their blood sugar levels if necessary. 
• Consult your doctor before using ketotifen if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
