Lamitrin 25

Presentation: Each tablet contains 25 mg Lamotrigine.

Indications: Used to treat certain types of seizures (epilepsy) in adults and children aged 2 years and older. It can be used on its own or with other medicines to control partial-onset seizures, primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and generalized seizures of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Lamitrin 25 is also used in adults (18 years and older) to help prevent or lessen the frequency of mood episodes in bipolar disorder.

Dosage & Administration: Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and how often you should take Lamitrin 25. The starting dose is usually low and gradually increased over several weeks to reduce the risk of side effects, especially skin rash. It can be taken once or twice a day, with or without food. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and do not stop taking it suddenly without their advice.

Side Effects: Common side effects can include skin rash, headache, nausea, vomiting, difficulty sleeping, and dizziness. Some side effects can be serious, such as severe skin rash (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), blood disorders, liver problems, and suicidal thoughts or behavior. If you experience any unusual symptoms, especially a rash, fever, swollen lymph nodes, or changes in mood, contact your doctor immediately.

Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems, heart problems, or a history of depression or suicidal thoughts. Lamotrigine can interact with other medications, including hormonal contraceptives, so it's important to tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking. Use caution with alcohol as it may cause excessive drowsiness. Lamitrin 25 may cause dizziness and double vision, which can affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
