Lasocon 

Presentation: Lasocon, available in Bangladesh, contains Lansoprazole. It is available in enteric-coated tablet or capsule form, typically in strengths of 15 mg and 30 mg, and is usually presented in blister packs. Lasocon is a product of various pharmaceutical companies.

Indications: Lasocon (Lansoprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for the treatment of acid-related disorders, including:

• Duodenal ulcer
• Gastric ulcer
• Erosive esophagitis
• Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), including symptomatic relief
• Maintenance of healed erosive esophagitis
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• In combination with antibiotics for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori.

Dosage and Administration: Lasocon tablets or capsules should be swallowed whole and should not be chewed or crushed. For patients with difficulty swallowing, the capsule can be opened and the contents mixed with a small amount of soft food or liquid and swallowed immediately. Lansoprazole should be taken once daily, preferably in the morning before food. The dosage depends on the condition being treated and the physician's instructions.

• Duodenal Ulcer: 30 mg once daily for 2 weeks.
• Gastric Ulcer: 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
• Erosive Esophagitis: 30 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. For maintenance, 15 mg once daily may be used.
• GERD (Symptomatic): 15 mg or 30 mg once daily for up to 4 weeks.
• H. pylori Eradication: Lansoprazole 30 mg twice daily is recommended in combination with specific antibiotics for 7-14 days.
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Starting dose is usually 60 mg once daily, adjusted based on acid secretion.

Side Effects: Lasocon (Lansoprazole) is generally well-tolerated. Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and flatulence. Less common side effects can include constipation, vomiting, dry mouth, and dizziness. Long-term use may be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures, low magnesium levels, and vitamin B12 deficiency in some individuals.

Precautions: Lasocon (Lansoprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lansoprazole or any other components of the formulation. Gastric malignancy should be excluded before initiating therapy. Caution should be exercised in patients with severe liver disease and during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your doctor before use. Lansoprazole can interact with several other medications.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
